Hello, my name is Tammy Roberts, and I began in the position of the Executive Director of Home Base YK in November 2020. I am honored to be in this role. Throughout my life and career, I have built relationships with many incredible youth and families from diverse backgrounds in the North, and I am committed to ensuring that services in Yellowknife are inclusive and accessible to all youth. Since 1991, I have been a dedicated caregiver, providing emergency and long-term care to approximately 250 foster children and youth in the Northwest Territories with a wide range of abilities. I continue to provide long-term care to neurodivergent individuals as both a foster and adoptive parent. Additionally, I have been the Executive Director of the Foster Family Coalition of the Northwest Territories since 2009. I am currently I am the secretary of the Canadian Foster Family Association and represent the Northwest Territories on the board of the CanFASD Research Network. In my spare time, I love volunteering, spending time with my family and enjoying the outdoors.

Hi, my name is Michelle and I am the Human Resources Coordinator at Home Base Yellowknife. Originally from Nova Scotia, I moved with my family to Yellowknife in July 2016. I joined the Home Base Yellowknife family in September 2022 bringing with me 30 years of social and community service based experience working with youth and adults with diverse backgrounds, including 12 years of non profit organization experience.Outside my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my family and enjoying all that living North of 60 has to offer. When I am not working I can generally be found on a lake exploring or with my nose in an ebook.

My name is Jessica Short and I have been with Home Base YK since December 2023 leading the finance department. I have also been doing the finances for the Foster Family Coalition since March 2023.

I enjoy all aspects of the job and the environment and people that I work with. I have worked for non-profit organizations for the past 8 years and bring that experience to the position. I have lived in the north most of my life and strive to be a contributing member of the community. I have been a foster parent since 2019 and enjoy spending time with all of my family.

Hello, my name is Ashley I have worked for Home Base Yellowknife since 2024. I use my personal experiences growing up in challenging and unstable home environment's to support the people I interact with daily. Having observed my family engage with community support throughout the NWT, it has always been a aspiration to contribute to initiatives that assist others that were once in my shoes or those close to me in difficult positions.
I took three years of Computer Technology, leading to advance skills in Electronics, Organization, Web Design, Graphic Design, Marketing design, Computer Technology, Creative Brand Design and more.
Outside of work I love spending time with my son and adventuring around creating memories.

Hello, my name is Amanda Anthony. I was born in Thunder Bay, ON and moved to Yellowknife in 2007 with my only child Chance. I have a Social Work diploma from Aurora College and have been slowly working towards a degree. My journey to Home Base was a bumpy one but I'm grateful everyday to be here.
I joined the Home Base team in August 2021 and worked my way up to my current role as the Dorms and Shelter Manager. Being excited to go to work everyday is thanks to the youth and everyone within the organization. There's no better common purpose than striving for all youth to be safe and have a roof over their head.

I'm Morgan Johnson. Living and learning in my hometown, Yellowknife. I have spent the past 6 years working across multiple levels of government in homelessness response, with a particular focus on Northern and Territorial systems. My work and drive are shaped by my own experiences as a youth navigating street entrenchment and addictions in the north,
Today, I am focused on supporting youth in my home community through housing initiatives, data-driven best practices, and trauma-informed care to build both shelter and self-expression for the young adults of Yellowknife.

Hello, my name is Brian Tawanda Machona. I joined Home Base Yellowknife in July 2022 as a practicum student for my Diploma in Addictions and Community Service Work. I was born and raised in a beautiful land locked country called Zimbabwe.

I moved to Canada in 2013 and I have been happy to call Canada home since then. I am passionate and zealous about working with youth from all walks of life to create a healthy lifestyle and help them achieve their goals. During my spare time, I enjoy playing basketball and spending quality time with family and friends.

Hi there! My name is Traci Mercer, and I serve as the Manager of Line Drive Outreach at Home Base in Yellowknife. Since moving to this remarkable northern community in 2014, I have developed a deep appreciation for the strength, resilience, and spirit of the North.
With more than a decade of experience in frontline and outreach work, I have dedicated my career to supporting people as they navigate challenges related to addiction, mental health, and trauma. My work focuses on creating safe, supportive environments where people can access the resources, stability, and guidance they need to move forward.

As someone in recovery myself, I bring both professional experience and personal understanding to this work. My journey has strengthened my commitment to helping others build stability, rediscover hope, and create meaningful change in their lives. I believe everyone deserves to feel safe, supported, and valued, and I remain passionate about contributing to a stronger, healthier future for communities across the North.
